Own cloud and full control over files

OwnCloud is a cloud of files that you can use as a private network drive. The software works very similar to known online services (e.g. Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, DropBox), but the basic difference is that in OwnCloud, the own cloud is created on the client’s private server. The files in the cloud are safe and will not be accessed by anyone who does not have permission to do so. Private data can be encrypted here to be available only to the Customer. Selected documents or entire folders can of course also be shared with specific users or anyone who has a link to them.

Files in the cloud – a functional solution for everyone

OwnCloud software has been designed to meet the expectations of both private users and larger companies. Own cloud is above all a very clear and intuitive interface that can be easily handled by every user. The user interface has a pull-down selection menu from which you can easily navigate to the functions and personal settings files available in the cloud, including:

  • Link settings, thanks to which you can download the application for desktops and mobile devices.
  • Checking server space availability.
  • User password management.
  • User settings, including: name, email address and profile picture.
  • Managing browsers and devices connected to the cloud of files, as well as the ability to check current device / browser sessions and the last activity of the selected device.
  • Group membership management.
  • Custom cloud interface language settings.
  • Software notification management.
  • Social media share buttons.
  • A useful manager for encrypting private files.
  • Information about the current OwnCloud version.

The cloud of files also has a useful search field (upper right corner of the own cloud interface), thanks to which we will quickly reach the file we need. The software also includes a special set of filters that will help the user find those files that have been shared with him and files that he has shared with others. It is possible to display files simultaneously or only those selected (e.g. shared or favorite). The file sorting function in the cloud is also useful:

  • Favorites
  • Shared with user
  • Shared with others
  • Shared by link

OwnCloud – what else is worth knowing?

All files in the OwnCloud can be easily grouped and commented. The interface also allows you to create your own sub-folders and manage them. If the software cannot display the files in the cloud, it will automatically download them to the user’s computer or mobile device. Documents or images that a cloud of files has can be shared with selected users or you can generate public links to specific folders or files, add passwords to them, or set their activity time. Own cloud is also a very simple file version control system that backs up documents that have been modified, so you can easily go back to the earlier version of the changed file if needed. In addition, care has been taken to ensure that the control system does not take up a large amount of disk space – this type of backup will not take more than 50% of the currently available free space on the server. If you need to accumulate more backups, the software will automatically delete the oldest versions of files to not exceed the set space limit.
